Hi.
The idea for this site came about on the day of my mother's passing at age 89. She was the youngest child of Clara Belle Elton of Yolo, Yolo County, California, who in turn was the youngest child of the six surviving children of Nathan Monroe Elton (d. 1893) and Nancy Margaret (Garred or Gerred or Gerad) (Elton) Rambo (d. 1928). My mom was an intermidable collector of scrap pieces of her life as well as the lives of her parents. These scraps included many old photographs which covered her childhood years growing up in northern California during the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s. While her father's side of the family is well-represented, the same is not true of her mother's side of the family, the Elton side. Her mother, Clara (1888-1964), did not leave behind very many photographs for whatever reason. And the ones that she did leave behind are not labeled with places, names, or dates. This has made it very difficult to identify the people in these old photographs and the circumstances under which they were made.
So I am asking any and all of you who are related to or connected to the descendants of Nathan Monroe Elton in any way, if you wouldn't mind sharing any old photographs that you may have inherited from your great-grandparents, grandparents, great-aunts or great-uncles, parents, in-laws, spouses, etc. Maybe we can help each other identify the people in these old photographs. And maybe, looking at the old photographs together, we can catch a glimpse of our ancestors' lives as they lived it at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century up to about 1950. It would be such a waste to just toss these photos out, especially since they have made it this far.
Thank you for your help and I hope this site will be of some interest to you!
