2.2 George Monroe Elton (1876- 1943).
George M. Elton, probably June 7, 1922, on the occasion of his sister Clara's and niece (Eugene Arthur Elton's daughter), Margaret Elton's double wedding day in Sacramento, California. Margaret is standing on the left, and George's daughter, 3.2.1 Beatrice, is standing on the right in the dark frock.
3.2.1 Beatrice (Elton) (Alford) Nixdorf (1902-1990).
Woodland and Oakland, California newspaper articles describing a frightening but fortunately non-life threatening traffic accident involving Beatrice Elton, then 12 years old. The articles were published in the June 30, 1914 editions.
The accident must have occurred in Woodland, Yolo County, California, as there is no "corner of College and Main streets" in Oakland, California, but there is in small town Woodland.

Oakland Tribune newspaper wedding and marriage license announcements (left: Oct 22, 1920 and right: Oct 31, 1920, Sunday Edition, p.56) for Beatrice Elton of Santa Rosa, California (originally from Woodland, California), and Roy Raymond Alford of Woodland, California. Beatrice was 18 years old; Roy was 19. Although their daughter Patricia would be born in Oakland, California in 1926, the article's "cosy home on south Second street" must refer to small town Woodland, Yolo County, California, and not big city Oakland, Alameda County, California, as Second Street in Oakland is industrial Waterfront property and was so even in the 1920s. After the honeymoon the couple returned to Woodland and stayed there at least through June 1922.
These articles are from the Modesto Herald (left) and Oakland Tribune (right), Oct 13, 1928. We don't know what exactly happened with Beatrice Elton (3.2.1) and the two children and why they went missing for several days in Oct 1928 during a road trip north to visit Beatrice's father George Elton (2.2), then living in Woodland, California. It's possible Beatrice just needed time out from her life with Roy or it's possible she didn't let Roy know her travel plans. Or it's possible that her car just broke down in the Central Valley.
This is an Oakland Tribune article from Aug 31, 1936. It's pretty clear that Roy and Beatrice's marriage was not working out. Beatrice would stay in the marriage for several more years before the couple finally divorced sometime between 1940 and 1947. I can only account for two of the couple's purported four children.

2.4 Esther (Elton)(Stannert) Wakefield (1881-1931)
Obituary for Mrs. Esther (Elton) Wakefield, Sacramento Bee, 08 June 1931. (source: www.newspapers.com)
Nov 14, 1914, Sacramento, California. Notice of Esther (Elton) Stannert's intent to annul her marriage to Wilson P. Stannert, who was originally from Pennsylvania but by 1904 was living in the San Francisco East Bay (Point Richmond) Area. Esther Elton and Wilson P. Stannert were married in San Francisco, California, 30 Mar 1905. Their daughter, Ruth Marie Stannert, was born in Los Angeles, California 21 Dec 1905. Esther and Wilson Stannert lived in Pennsylvania for several years after Ruth's birth but had moved back to California by 1911. (Woodland Daily Democrat, Nov. 15, 1914).

3.4.1 Ruth Marie (Stannert)(Lawrence) Dickson (1905-1987).
Left. Ruth Marie Stannert (b. Dec 1905) as she appeared in her Aunt Clara Elton's wedding party on 07 Jun 1922 in Sacramento, California. The young man standing to the right would have to be Robert R. Lawrence, her fiancee and later husband (m. first part of 1924 in Sacramento, California). After marrying Ruth, Robert moved in with his new
bride and mother-in-law (Esther Elton-Stannert) at 401 31st St., Sacramento, California.
Right. Ruth Marie (Stannert) Lawrence holding either her first-born child, Robert Elton Lawrence (b. Jan 1925 in Sacramento) or her niece, 3.5.5 Betty Marie Elton, b. 14 Dec 1918, in Yolo, CA. If it is her first-born son, a possible date for this photo would be around April- May1925, presumably in Sacramento, California, where he was born. (Looks like Ruth is dressed-up for some reason, so perhaps this is the baby's christening day. Just as an aside, note how she's proudly kept the Elton heritage alive by including her mother's family name as her son's.). If, according to others, it is her niece, 3.5.5 Betty Marie Elton, then the photo would be dated to early 1919 (Jan-Feb). Compare the two photos of Ruth Marie Stannert. The photo on the left was taken 7 June 1922 at her Aunt Clara's wedding in Sacramento. Ruth was 16 and a half. Does the photo on the right look like a 13-year-old Ruth or a 20-year-old Ruth? Exactly. It looks like a 20-year-old Ruth Stannert.
